Todd Street

Did Dave Sowerbutts and I really turn up in Salford at the start of Freshers' Week with no where to stay? We will have obtained the accommodation list from the University. Even if we had a short list of places to visit I wonder did we really have no place for the first night? Fortunately we met Steve Petitt and Bob Campbell-Wright in the student's union and from that point had a place to live. Dave and I moved in and later took on the house when Steve and Bob left.

We had the usual round of parties. For a couple of them we bought 11gallon and 22 gallon kegs of beer from the union with footpumps for pressurising. We charged £5 on the door and also provided bread and cheese as well as the free beer. The biggest party started on Friday night and finished on Sunday morning and there was still some beer left. We dragged the carpets out into the street on Sunday afternoon and hosed the whole hose down. The house was soaking with beer and other things so we could only make it cleaner.
